Subject: Cassette Recorders
HELP!!! I need a couple cassette recorders (one regular cassetter and one microcassette). The micro needs to be small and the regular fairly small. I would like to have a remote mike capability on both. The Sony microcassette I currently have is too noisy. I get a good (?) recording of the motor operation in the unit which degrades the audio considerably. So I need units that are free from producing their own noise. I know there are units on the market that are reasonably priced, but not around here. I would also like 2 remote mikes that are low impedence and sensitive. Also, any information on surveillance transmitters and their associated receivers would be appreciated. I understand that Radio Shack has a bug out now that transmits quite a distance, but did ot here what frequency they were on or what was used as a receiver. Any information on BEST BUYS would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Gentlemen,
Be EXTREMELY careful dealing with TSCM queries coming from the East,
specifically, Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong.
Over the last week we've had an abnormally high number of queries
come in from Asian customers wanting large quantities of very high end, and very specific Cryptographic, SIGINT and TSCM gear.
The potential client fakes ignorance, but seems to know diplomatic TSCM and technical intelligence operations just a bit too well.
Typical attempted purchases are well over 300k, but each case the potential client wants you to subvert the ITAR laws.(they want to take delivery at your office, or they want it delivered to their embassy or consulate).
The subjects are also offering to pay big bucks for TSCM training,
and they are will to pay cash..
Use extreme caution, I checked with Customs and the Asia desk of the State Department, both advised "caution."
State Department advised the equipment is being purchased
for the use of the Chinese government.

A convict broke out of jail in Washington D.C., then a few days later accompanied his girlfriend to her trial for robbery. At lunch, he went out for a sandwich. She needed to see him, and thus had him overhead paged. Police officers recognizedhis name and arrested him as he returned to the courthouse in a car he had stolen over the lunch hour.
Police in Radnor, Pennsylvania, interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on his head and connecting it with wires to a photocopy machine. The message "He's lying" was placed in the copier, and police pressed the copy button each time they thought the suspect wasn't telling the truth. Believing the "lie detector" was working, the suspect confessed.

Jack, You might want to pass on what you'll be using them for will be and a price range. That helps others in assessing your needs.

I hoped you folks (who are willing to assist) are passing on pertinent information to Chrissie at

for the special they are doing for The Discovery/Learning Channels.
Specifically, she is looking for High Tech items used for intelligence gathering (video, audio, laser, etc.). If you know a manufacturer or supplier, pass the name on to her or to me. She will contact them and decide if the product is in the realm of what the special will be designed to cover.
Also, if you are aware of any "bugging" attempts or industrial espionage activity, she'd like to get informaion on that as well.
